All-Porcelain Crowns:
All-Porcelain Crowns
are a beautiful and natural looking choice!
New technology White crowns used to only be made
of porcelain fused to metal, often leaving a dark gray area
at the gum-line. Now, we have the technology to create your
crown entirely from porcelain. All-porcelain crowns are translucent,
like your natural teeth, so they look great!
Strength
and beauty An all-porcelain
crown is a custom-made restoration that is bonded to your tooth,
covering it completely. They repair and strengthen damaged teeth,
and can also be used to improve your appearance by covering
discolored or misshapen teeth.
The Procedure Crowns require at least two visits.
We will prepare and shape your tooth, then take impressions.
A dental lab will make a model from these impressions, and use
the model to create your natural-looking new all-porcelain crown.

Bridges:
Bridges: A great way
to restore your smile!
Why do
I need a bridge?
When a tooth is missing, it can cause a chain reaction of problems.
Surrounding teeth may shift, causing stress to your jaw joint
(TMJ) when you chew. It's much harder to clean teeth that have
shifted, so harmful tartar can build up, which can cause cavities
and gum disease.
The Procedure A bridge fills in this space,
using the adjacent teeth for support. These teeth will be reduced
and contoured, and then we will make a precise impression of
your teeth. Using this impression, a dental lab will make a
model, and it is on this model that your bridge is created.
What
will my new bridge look like? We will consider the function as well as the
appearance of your replacement teeth when we select the material
for your new bridge. We may use porcelain, acrylic, gold or
other alloys, or a combination of these materials, depending
on your situation.
Cosmetic Dentistry:
Intraoral
Camera:
Intraoral Camera -
Now you can see what we see!
A Tiny
Video Camera Because
we want you to be well informed about all aspects of your dental
health, we have invested in an intraoral video camera. About
the size of a pen, it allows you to see broken fillings, gum
problems or small cracks, even in back teeth!
A Better
Understanding With
the intraoral camera, we can zoom in on one tooth magnified
to 25 times its size, or we can give you a "tour"
of the inside of your mouth. You will see precisely what we
see, so you will better understand your treatment problems and
options.
We Can
Treat Problems Early The
intraoral camera can reveal a problem while it is still relatively
simple to treat. The full-color images produced by this unique
instrument give you the knowledge you need to make informed
decisions regarding your dental health.
Invisalign:
Invisalign - Start
smiling more! Straighter teeth can lead to:
Healthier
Gums Properly positioned
teeth are easier to brush and floss than teeth that are crowded,
crooked, or spaced too far apart. Properly aligned teeth can
help gums "fit" tighter around them, which may lead
to better periodontal health.
Easier
Cleanings With
maintenance of good oral hygiene, the chances of having plaque
retention, tooth decay, and periodontal (gum) disease can be
reduced.
Improved Chewing and Speech In some instances, speech problems
may result from poorly positioned teeth and jaws. Correction
of the bite can help improve chewing and speech.
Decreased
Risk of Dental Trauma and Abnormal Wear Properly aligned teeth are less stressful
on the supporting bone and jaw joints.
More
Beautiful Smiles
Straightening your teeth with Invisalign will make you feel
less self-conscious and more confident.
Periodontal
Disease:
Periodontal Disease
- What is it? How can you prevent it? Your mouth is a window to
your overall wellness.
What
is periodontal disease?
Periodontal (gum) disease is an infection of the teeth,
gums and bone. It is caused by plaque, the sticky film of food
and bacteria that forms constantly on your teeth. Gums infected
with periodontal disease are like toxic reservoirs of disease-causing
bacteria. You may have gum disease and not even know it, because
it is rarely painful in its early stages.
How does
it affect my teeth?
If plaque is not removed each day, it hardens to become tartar,
and only a professional cleaning will remove it. If it is not
removed, tartar invades the root surfaces of your teeth. Here,
harmful bacteria thrive and cause toxins to form, destroying
gum and bone tissue.
An Open
Doorway for Bacteria
Researchers recently discovered that chronic infection in your
mouth creates an open doorway for plaque bacteria to enter the
bloodstream. These bacteria - Streptococcus sanguis- may cause
blood clots that can block your arteries and even trigger a
heart attack.
What
are the symptoms?
If bone tissue is destroyed, your teeth can loosen. So let us
know if you have persistent bad breath, if your gums are swollen,
soft or tender, or if they bleed when you brush or floss. If
we diagnose gum disease early, we can stop the destruction and
save your teeth.
Other
Problems Other
ailments have been linked to periodontal disease, including
respiratory disease, pneumonia, strokes, ulcers difficult-to-control
diabetes, low birth weight babies, and infective endocarditis,
a dangerous infection of the heart valves.
Whitening:
Third Molars -
(Wisdom Teeth)
Third molars (usually
4 of them) develop in the back 4 corners of the mouth. Wisdom teeth
usually erupt between the ages of 17 to 21. If there is enough room
in the mouth, these teeth will erupt to a normal position. Some
wisdom teeth come in only part way, and yet some never do erupt.
These teeth are called impacted wisdom teeth.
Possible problems
associated with an impacted wisdom tooth are: decay in the wisdom
tooth, decay in the adjacent tooth, infection and swelling, cyst
formation, and possible crowding of teeth. Many people do not have
enough room for their wisdom teeth and eventually have them extracted.
If your dentist recommends it, then it would be good "preventive
medicine" to have them removed before complications occur.
Many wisdom teeth can be extracted in the office or your dentist
may elect to refer you to an oral surgeon.
Root Canal:
A tooth that has had
root canal treatment can usually be restored to last as long as
any other tooth. After root canal treatment, the tooth should be
restored. This is often done by using a crown. With modern dentistry,
most root canal treatments can be performed with no discomfort.
The cost of a root canal is usually less than the cost of removing
that tooth and replacing it with an artificial one. |
