The appearance of one's smile makes a big difference on one's self-esteem and confidence. Our practice provides you with the opportunity to have the smile of your dreams. For those who are concerned about esthetics, Berwick Dental Arts offers a variety of services to address these concerns. Since there are many procedures used in smile make-overs, including porcelain and dental crowns; it is important to make the right aesthetic and procedural decisions. After a thorough cosmetic evaluation, we will form a treatment plan with you to best meet your needs. The following procedures and cosmetic devices may be used together or alone at our Berwick practice to give you the smile of your dreams:

Bonding- Composite Restoration

Bonding is the process of adhering a synthetic tooth colored resin to your teeth for restorative and/or cosmetic purposes.

It is the same procedure that is used in placing many tooth colored restorations.

Bonding can be used to restore decayed or chipped teeth, resurface poorly stained teeth, or close spaces between teeth as shown below

Bonding sometimes can be used to replace a missing tooth with a Maryland bridge. This is a replacement tooth with small hidden attachments that are bonded to the inside surfaces of the adjacent teeth. Your dentist can advise you if a Maryland bridge would be a better option for your situation.

Advantages of bonding:

    • It can usually be done with anesthetic
    • Little or not tooth reduction is needed
    • In cases where bonding is an alternative it will usually be less expensive than a crown or a bridge
    • It is a relatively new cosmetic service modern dentistry has available

If you would like to schedule an appointment to discuss porcelain dental veneers, contact us today.

Dental Crowns

In addition to bonding, we also offer dental crowns. A dental crown is usually placed on a broken tooth, a tooth with a large filling, or a tooth with a root canal. Unlike porcelain veneers, dental crowns cover the entire tooth, making them a more effective solution to severely damaged teeth.

Similar to bonding, dental crowns are usually fitted within two visits to our office. At Berwick Dental Arts, we will file down the existing tooth, which will be used as a foundation for the dental crown. If the tooth receiving the dental crown is too damaged, the doctor will first perform a root canal and support the damaged tooth with a synthetic foundation. Once a proper foundation for dental crowns is established, a mold of the tooth "root" and surrounding teeth is taken and the impression is used to make the dental crowns at our lab.

Once your dental crowns are fabricated, a return visit to office is needed to place the dental crowns. At Berwick Dental Arts, we place temporary dental crowns until your permanent custom fabricated dental crown are finished and placed. We take great care to ensure your temporary crown looks as beautiful as your natural teeth to improve your dental restoration process.

The dental crowns fitted by the dentist are permanent, long lasting solutions to missing and damaged teeth. Dental crowns from Berwick Dental Arts will restore the beauty and function of your smile. If taken care of properly, dental crowns can last years, even decades - just like your natural teeth!
